Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55, has enrolled in rehabilitation and self-improvement initiatives while detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. According to a TMZ report cited by Urban Islandz, the hip-hop mogul has joined the STOP Program—designed to address domestic, dating, and sexual violence—as well as a comprehensive drug abuse therapy led by Dr. Harry K. Wexler.
The steps come as part of a broader effort to demonstrate personal transformation in advance of his October 3 sentencing, following federal jury convictions on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution, for which he faces up to 20 years in prison. Diddy was cleared of sex trafficking and racketeering charges earlier this year.
Incarcerated since his arrest at the end of September 2024, Combs is evidently using his time behind bars to focus on personal change. A criminal justice expert told the New York Post that this move is likely a strategic effort by his legal team to influence sentencing in a more lenient direction.
Combs’ lawyers were quick to defend the decision. Attorney Marc Agnifilo described it as an expression of genuine accountability. Speaking after the trial, he noted Diddy’s acknowledgment of personal faults and his commitment to addressing them beyond his incarceration period.
Legal analysts say participation in rehab programs may support a reduced sentence or move Combs to a lower-security prison following sentencing. Prosecutors, meanwhile, are pushing for a four-to-five-year term, while defense attorneys are pushing for time served or a much shorter sentence.
Despite the ongoing allegations and multiple lawsuits surrounding his behavior, including domestic abuse and exploitation claims, Combs’ completion of the STOP Program and drug treatment are being interpreted as calculated steps toward rehabilitation and reconciliation
