Authorities say approximately 140 shots were fired during a deadly mass shooting overnight in Philadelphia, leaving three people dead and ten others wounded in one of the city’s most violent incidents this year.
The shooting occurred in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia shortly before midnight. Witnesses described a barrage of gunfire that sent dozens of people running for their lives. Police recovered shell casings from multiple firearms, suggesting that more than one shooter was involved.
Responding officers described the scene as chaotic, with victims found on sidewalks and in nearby vehicles. Emergency crews rushed ten wounded individuals to local hospitals, where several remain in critical condition.
“This was a brutal, coordinated attack,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel. “The sheer number of shots fired shows a complete disregard for human life.”

As of Monday morning, no arrests have been made. Investigators are combing through surveillance footage and canvassing the area for witnesses. Police believe the incident may be connected to ongoing gang or drug-related conflicts but have not confirmed a motive.
The shooting has added to the growing concern over Philadelphia’s gun violence epidemic. So far in 2025, the city has seen more than 220 homicides, and residents continue to call for stronger community protection and intervention programs.
Mayor Cherelle Parker called the shooting “a horrifying display of violence” and urged federal and state partners to support Philadelphia’s anti-violence initiatives.
A citywide vigil for recent victims is being planned by community organizers.
